The Analog Oscilloscope

Analog oscilloscopes, sometimes CRO oscilloscopes, are the earliest type of oscilloscope. The scopes feature a cathode-ray tube (CRT) that displays the waveform. The input signal is first conditioned and amplified to the vertical axis of an electron beam moving across the CRT screen horizontally from left to right. The venerable 515A oscilloscope from Tektronix was a workhorse that was very popular in the 1960s and beyond.
