The Digital Phosphor Ocilloscope (DPO)

The Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope (DPO) closely mimics the display characteristics of an analog oscilloscope, while providing the benefits of a digital oscilloscope, such as waveform storage and automated sample measurements.

Unlike other digital oscilloscopes, a DPO oscilloscope can provide intensity-graded viewing of the signal in real time. A digital phosphor oscilloscope displays signals in three dimensions: amplitude, time and intensity (amplitude over a period of time).

A DPO scope combines the best features of analog oscilloscopes and digital oscilloscopes, making it a great choice. However, as you might suspect, a DPO scope is pretty expensive.
